Create newsletters, welcome subscribers and review every campaign from one calm WordPress workspace.

== Description ==

Newsletter Platform brings your newsletters, audience and welcome journey into WordPress. Free works without a vendor account or WooCommerce.

* Ten editable email designs, your own templates and reusable sections.
* A visual block editor, preview, autosave, undo and saved campaign revisions.
* Insert published WordPress posts and optional WooCommerce products.
* A complete editable five-email welcome journey.
* Tagged audiences, searchable contacts, reviewed CSV imports and portable exports.
* A five-step first-newsletter guide: sender, design, owned-address test, audience review and send.
* Optional basic click-request reports by newsletter and destination link, off by default.
* Visible Free / Pro / My designs tabs; paid designs are preview-only without the companion.
* Sending windows, rate limits, frequency controls, pause and uncertain-send review.
* Explicit consent, double opt-in, unsubscribe, suppression and WordPress privacy tools.
* A signup block and shortcode, optional footer and dismissible exit-intent forms.
* Optional WooCommerce checkout consent, registration consent and personal welcome coupons.

Newsletter Platform Pro is a separately installed companion with 72 additional seasonal and industry designs, reusable kits, recurring post digests prepared as drafts, purchase audiences and three WooCommerce follow-up recipes. Pro adds a purchase condition per journey email, a synthetic send/skip/hold preview, optional matched-order reporting and journey analysis, and review by a different existing administrator. Authored draft designs remain portable. Free contains no premium installer or locked Pro functionality. Optional workflow examples and comparison suggestions stay inside relevant plugin screens and can be hidden per administrator.

Conditional journeys use supported rules per email, rather than arbitrary visual branching. Reporting starts off; recorded requests can include scanners, and matched orders require qualifying activity by the same signed-in customer. They do not prove increased revenue. Administrator review does not create client accounts or grant access. The companion has no connected licensing, checkout or vendor update service in this beta.

This is a development beta for private staging evaluation. It has not been submitted to or approved by WordPress.org. Public release requires the remaining compatibility, email-client, translation and operational review described in the development handoff. Network-wide multisite activation is not supported in this beta.

== Installation ==

1. Use an isolated staging site with a current files and database backup.
2. Upload newsletter-platform.zip through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
3. Activate it and open Newsletter Platform.
4. Follow the first-newsletter guide. In Settings, save your sender identity, owned test inbox, business mailing address and privacy URL.
5. Choose a Free design, save your draft and send an owned-address test. An accepted draft test also verifies the current sender configuration; check the actual inbox yourself.
6. Deliberately enable sending only after checking the sender and delivery setup. Publish optional forms separately under Forms.
7. Import only contacts for whom you have appropriate permission. New CSV contacts default to pending. Active imports require recorded provenance; they do not send confirmations or enroll people into a welcome journey.
8. Use Send rehearsal, resolve its issues, then schedule the saved revision with an explicit timezone.

Sending and optional signup forms start disabled. Test mode pauses live marketing; it does not reroute customer messages. Test sender and campaign tests use synthetic personalization and the owned test address.

== Signup placement ==

Add the Newsletter Platform signup block, or use:

[newsletter_platform_signup]

Optional shortcode attributes include title, description, button, source and show_name="no". Enable signup forms in Forms and complete sender setup before publishing. Consent is always a separate, unchecked choice.

Opening a confirmation or unsubscribe link displays a review page. A human confirmation POST changes the subscription. Mail providers can use the dedicated RFC 8058 one-click POST endpoint. Confirmation links expire; unsubscribe links remain usable after WordPress salt rotation.

== Sending and data ==

The plugin uses WordPress wp_mail() and the site's configured mail transport. A successful handoff means accepted by that transport; it does not prove inbox delivery. Free can optionally record basic newsletter link requests and show campaign/link summaries. The separate Pro companion adds journey breakdowns and conservatively matched WooCommerce orders. Neither edition ingests provider delivery, bounce or complaint webhooks in this beta. No open pixels or invented engagement metrics are included.

Basic reporting is off by default and requires an explicit administrator setup acknowledgement; that acknowledgement is not subscriber consent. A contact can be excluded from measurement without changing their subscription. Click requests can include security scanners and forwarded messages; repeats within 60 seconds count once. No IP addresses, user-agent history, tracking cookies or open pixels are added. Personal reporting retention is 30–365 days, with WordPress privacy export/erasure. Free retains authored destination mappings so old links work after tracking is disabled or Pro is removed. Enabled basic campaign click reporting continues in Free; Pro order and journey features stop without the companion. Mappings, the Free plugin and signing material must remain intact; WordPress auth-salt rotation currently invalidates tracked-link signatures. Required-review campaigns remain blocked when Pro is unavailable. Ordinary Free campaigns do not require a second administrator.

Marketing workers use WordPress Cron, or Action Scheduler when available. Production scheduling needs a reliable host cron. Default pace is five attempts per batch, a maximum of thirty attempts per rolling hour, and a 09:00-19:00 window in the site timezone. Frequency limits are checked again before sending. An interrupted attempt can be marked unknown and requires operator review; exactly-once delivery is not claimed.

Subscriber records, consent history, drafts and delivery metadata are stored in this site's database. WordPress privacy export and erasure integrations are included. Erasure retains a keyed suppression marker to prevent accidental reimport. Form preferences use local browser storage and a functional signup-complete cookie. Routine event and completed-queue retention is configurable; suppressions and consent are retained separately. Removing the plugin retains data unless Delete on uninstall was explicitly selected. Historical WooCommerce coupons are retained as merchant records on uninstall.

== External services ==

There is no vendor telemetry, account registration, licensing request or remote template download in Free. Sending mail passes the message and recipient to the site's chosen WordPress mail transport. Administrators may insert images and links hosted by services they choose; email clients can request those images when displaying a message. The voluntary product-site link opens NewsletterPlatform.com when clicked. No request to that site is required to use Free.

== Frequently asked questions ==

= Do I need WooCommerce? =
No. Campaigns, forms, contacts, templates and the welcome journey work without it. Commerce products, checkout choices and coupons require WooCommerce.

= Does installing Pro start an automation? =
No. Recipes start as drafts. Recurring digests prepare campaign drafts and never send them automatically. Orders do not subscribe customers. Existing active newsletter permission is required for commerce journeys.

= Can I replace the old Pure Elixirs plugin on a live site? =
Do not replace it directly with this beta. The new product uses separate tables and settings. Preserve the original plugin, database and old unsubscribe links until a staged migration is verified.
